Peerless Cars Ltd. built cars in Slough, England between 1957 and 1960. The cars were advanced for their time being built around a space frame chassis and clothed with a glass fibre body. Mechanicals were mainly Triumph TR3 with a De Dion tube rear end and front disc brakes included. Due to financial difficulties, the company was reinvented in 1960 by Bernie Rodger as Bernhard Rodger Ltd, one of Peerless Cars original founders. Production of the Peerless was restarted and the car became known as a Warwick GT. Minor changes to the appearance were made and a one piece forward hinging front end was incorporated as well as a lighter, stiffer space frame chassis and revised dashboard. Production ran from 1960 to 1962.

On offer today is an opportunity to acquire one of these rare low volume production sporting saloons; in fact no. 16 of approximately 40 Warwick GT's produced. 191 AWR has been in the same family since 1963, a total of 50 years ownership. The vendor took possession of the car from his grandfather, who could no longer drive, in 2004.  The grandfather had purchased the car in 1963 with funds from a redundancy payment, much to the annoyance of his wife. Although the V5 states that there is only one previous owner, it has in fact had one other; a Mr Ian Morton, who owned the car from new and who was later to become the Evening Standard motoring correspondent.

In recent years this Warwick has undergone an extensive professional restoration, with works including a body off and refurbishment of the space frame chassis, strengthening of the front bulkhead, front suspension top mountings reinforced, a mechanical overhaul of the brakes, with later callipers and Green Stuff pads, suspension, including the fitment with poly bushes, clutch, wiring loom and radiator. The twin fuel tanks were replaced with aluminium items. The carburettors were refurbished by Burlen Fuel Systems Ltd and the distributor by The Distributor Doctor. A Revington upgraded gear box mount is also included. The glass fibre body was refurbished by one of the UK's leading composite specialists, Option 1 Sportscars of Bromsgrove, who re-layered the car with a mat and gel coat and finished it to the highest of standards you see today. There are some areas for improvement; these being the chromework and to some extent the interior, although many would keep the patinated appearance as it is. A set of the original steel wheels and bumpers accompany the car as well as numerous assorted spares. A new battery has recently been fitted for peace of mind and the car also comes with a full and detailed history file.

It is thought that only three Warwick GT's exist on the road today with some others being used solely for motor sport. With all the advantages of the Triumph TR spares backup this must truly represent a unique chance to own something stylish and different. With an MoT test certificate valid until October 2013 and road fund licence valid until the end of November 2013, this Warwick GT can be driven off straight from the sale.
