The Jaguar E-Type was initially designed and shown to the public as a grand tourer in two-seater coupé form and as a convertible roadster. Open headlights without glass covers, a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned and larger front indicators and tail lights below the bumpers, better cooling aided by an enlarged 'mouth' and twin electric fans, together with up-rated brakes, are all hallmarks of Series II cars. The interior and dashboard were also re-designed with rocker switches being substituted for toggle switches. The dashboard switches also lost their symmetrical layout. New seats were fitted which, purists claim, lacked the style of the originals but were certainly more comfortable and air conditioning and power steering were available as factory options.

Originally registered in November 1970, this all English, righthand drive from new, Series II has had a remarkably sheltered life covering just 52,500 miles from new. Having been regularly used, loved and documented by its five previous owners. Presented in red coach work with original black interior carrying a delightful patina of a sports car of this era, this example has recently had any remedial work necessary such as sills and rear arches and is described as running extremely well by the current vendor who purchased the car some six years ago. The history file is bulging with invoices and receipts which is a testament to the ownership and gives confidence to any buyer as to the genuine quality of this coupé, this combined with an MoT test certificate. With prices for E-Types ever surpassing expectations, this example has something that no restored or imported car can compete with, history, and bags full of it. Combined with a low mileage and originality, cars like this are in short supply and certain to be very popular.
