The recent history of this example started in June 2008 when Practical Classics started the restoration; the vendor went to their website and registered his interest.

As time went by, the Jaguar was treated to a three year restoration, covered each month in the Practical Classics Magazine. It is worth mentioning that SPL undertook chemical cleaning and corrosion protection followed by paintwork (Jaguar Steel Grey) and additional Schutz underbody protection by Mike Harris at Kolorshack. The red leather interior was produced by Aldridge Trimming and a few additional upgrades were added whilst restoring the car, including ceramic coating to the exhaust headers, a stainless steel exhaust and wire wheels with £22,350 spent on restoration (excluding labour).

The vendor was then contacted in September 2010 by Matt Jones, the editor of Practical Classics, and notified that he had been shortlisted to win the car, he had to write, in 50 words or less, how winning the Jaguar would change his life.

 "Winning my teenage dream car brings visions of villains evading Carter and Regan in the seventies. I enjoy regular visits to car shows; to go in a Jaguar Mk. II would change the whole experience for my family and me. It would be a privilege to display a Practical Classics restoration"

It was then announced that he had won at the NEC Classic car show on the 13th November 2011; the car handover took place at SNG Barratt's premises in Bridgenorth with the first drive home of 130 miles and, as expected, the car performed perfectly. With five years and just over 1,200 miles covered, the time has come to sell. Still in excellent condition throughout and with a new MoT test certificate showing no advisories, this fine example, with all the hard work done, represents extremely good value.
