The first Giulia 105 series of motor cars, the Giulia Ti, was introduced to the motoring press at Monza on the 27th June 1962 in Berlina (saloon) form. Driven by the classic Alfa twin cam, engine capacity was increased from its predecessor, the Giulietta, from 1290cc to 1570cc and produced 92bhp in the new guise. The new car also included a five speed column change gearbox, umbrella handbrake and strip instrumentation. Designed by Dr. Orazio Satta Puglia, the initial look is of a somewhat square but compact motor car however, look more closely; the detailed swaging along the roof, wings, and doors along with a subtle roof spoiler and Kamm tail gave encouraging results in the wind tunnel. In 1965, at the Geneva Motor Show, the Giulia Super was introduced. Based on the Ti, improvements included a floor change gearbox and centrally mounted handbrake as well as attractive round instruments with ancillary gauges mounted centrally. Twin Weber carburettors were fitted and the power was increased to 112bhp.

The Giulia Super is considered by many 'Alfisti' as the best Alfa of the period. This example owned for the last eight years, has been a very successful historic rally car and makes a lovely road car. Offered in sky blue, this Giulia is largely standard with slightly up-rated suspension and brakes which has helped it win the Tour Auto and, more recently, finish second in the Scottish Malts rally whilst competitively taking part in many others.

Over the past year the owner has found less time to use MDV 17F so feels it is time to move it to a new home. Being very well known in Rally circles, boasting a wealth of spares including the original seats and having had a full engine rebuild just 200 miles ago by Bob Dove, it certainly is an attractive proposition for both road and rally use and the vendor states he will be sad to see it go. The history file with the car is, to say the least, comprehensive, with documentation including photos from rallies and restoration, invoices from services and a hand-written history of the car from new. All accompanied by manuals, a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until September 2017.
